Let me tell you about the best Margarita you will ever taste. I will be fresh and salty, with hints of lime and orange and lots of other things you wouldn’t normally think of adding to Margarita.
A few years back, I was very much obsessed with Margaritas and probably tried any recipe out there, but I always found that most combinations lacked complexity and that special kick in them, until I came across the recipe of this Margarita. It does require a rather long list of ingredients, I admit, but all of them are absolutely essential to achieve the end result. Eventually, it does also pay off having some stock of Limoncello and Grand Marnier at home, for flavoring or all sorts of other things.
Ingredients:
1.5 part lime juice
2 parts tequila
1 part Grand Marnier
1 part Limoncello
1 part Sugar syrup
a splash of orange juice
salt
ice cubes
Process: Before squeezing the juice out of the lime, cut in half and circle the top of the glass, then immediately dip in the salt, shake of the excess.
In a cocktail mixer combine all the other ingredients, give it a good shake, then gently pour into the glass, leaving salt rim intact.

Have you tried it with less sweetener? The original margarita is 7:4:3 booze to sweet to lime. Yours is 4:6:3.
The original margarita was a kind of Daisy, you know: short and strong. Limoncello sounds like an excellent addition, but adding syrup, too, that just sounds like too much extra sweetener to me.
Nice pics, btw. Check out http://www.kaiserpenguin.com for some really ballin’ cocktail photography, too.
This will sound really bad, but I occasionally add even an additional splash of sugar syrup… just because I like it a bit more sweet, but using as the recipe calls for doesn’t make it a rather sweet cocktail, at least for me it doesn’t 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
The sun is over the yard arm so I can read about Margueritas. I like the addition of the limoncello and of course the salt rim is essential.
Limoncello and Grand Marnier both give a nice twist to it! 🙂
Gorgeous photos! I love my margaritas on the sweet side, too…and now I know what to do with the limoncello in my freezer 🙂
Thanks Liz!
Mmm I’m not a big drinker but I looove margaritas… I like mine sweet too, just had one with an orange slice this weekend and I really liked the hint of orange! This looks awesome, thanks for sharing!!
Orange does make it a little different! Thank you for visiting! 🙂
